TAKTSANG GOEMPA (Tiger's Nest):

No matter how many times a person has been to Taktsang Monastery, it is a breathtaking experience, and one you will never forget.  Seeing it from a distance, you may ask yourself: “How could this possibly have been built?” and “How will I be able to climb that far”?

This religious, historic, and beautiful temple is considered to be Bhutan’s most iconic landmark.  It was constructed on a sheer cliff face, thousands of feet above oak and rhododendrons forests and the valley floor. Per Bhutanese history, Guru Rinpoche flew to Taktsang on the back of a tigress to subdue a demon.  He meditated here for several months.  Over the centuries, many other famous Buddhists have come to meditate here, and today Bhutanese from all over the country make the spiritual trek to earn merit and enjoy the spectacular view.
